We all look back with fondness of days gone by and the good old days

but what happened to your old football club, dance hall, social club or Irish dancing school are they still in existance and are there records that they actually ever existed?  if not we would like to change that.

This project all stems from my own experiences growing up in Birmingham, England in the 60's and 70's where practically evey person that I knew and associated with were born to Irish parents. Wherever I went, Ireland and the Irish were in the forefront of my growing up - from attending Catholic schools, attending Church and later on in my youth, spending many nights out in the Irish dance halls and pubs of Birmingham.

When I look back to the 70's now, the majority of pubs in areas of large Irish populations were always full of Irish men (and Irish women in certain members clubs ) who were all actually born in Ireland and who left to inprove their lot.  I look today and see that the majority of the same clubs and pubs have closed or under threat of closure and the ones stll open, often rarely have any Irish born people left.

So before we have a situation ( at least in the U.K. ) whereby the presence of the Irish who left Ireland and help built parts of the U.K. as we know it today, we need to document it and not allow a generation to be being simply consigned to the record books.

So send us your articles and photos so that we can start keeping the memories alive here.
